Admission Process, COMPASS® Placement Test

My goal is to earn a degree or certificate. How do I apply?

  1. Click here to access an Application for Admission Degree and Certificate.
  2. Fill in the information requested in each screen.
  3. Be sure to double check your data-entry; any errors will be part of your record and may result in delayed admission.
  4. Request your high school, and if applicable your college, to mail your transcripts to the Office of Admission Records. Hand-carried and faxed transcripts are not accepted. Transcripts sent via eScript-safe are accepted.
  5. GED scores are accepted in place of transcripts and may be hand-carried.
  6. Take the COMPASS placement test.
  7. Once all information has been received, you will be admitted to Cincinnati State.

I only want to take a class or two and will not need financial aid.  How do I apply?

  1. Click on Application, Non-Degree Seeking Student (ineligible for financial aid).
  2. Fill in the information requested in each screen.
  3. Be sure to double check your data-entry; any errors will be part of your record and may result in delayed admission.
  4. You may also complete a paper application in the Office of the Registrar.

Have I been admitted?

You are admitted once you have completed all admission steps. You should have received a user ID and password in the mail after you submitted the admission application; if it is lost see the look-up instructions on the front page.

  1. Follow instructions to Access MyServices Online.
  2. Click on Current Students on the MyServices page.
  3. Click on My Profile and scroll to the bottom of the page.
  4. When you are admitted, your degree will be listed under the Transfer Module.
  5. Your letter of admission is sent to your Cincinnati State email and your home address when you are admitted. It includes the phone number you may call to set up an appointment with your advisor.

Have my high school/college transcripts arrived?

  1. Follow instructions to Access MyServices Online.
  2. Click on Current Students.
  3. Click on My Documents.
  4. The date your transcript arrived will be populated in the Received Date field when your transcript is received.

Where do I take the COMPASS placement test?

The COMPASS test is offered on the Clifton Campus in Room 176 Main and on the Middletown Campus. Reservations are not necessary. You must present a photo ID prior to testing. You will be tested in math, reading, writing and keyboarding. Testing days and times are:

Clifton Campus
Prior to March 16, 2014
Monday - Thursday: 8 am - 8 pm, arrive before 6 pm
Friday: 8 am - 4 pm, arrive before 2 pm
Saturday: Testing is offered the first Saturday of the month and every Saturday in May and June. Arrive no later than 9:15 am.

After March 15, 2014
Monday & Tuesday: 8 am - 8 pm, arrive before 6 pm
Wednesday - Friday: 8 am - 4 pm, arrive before 2 pm
Saturday: Testing is offered the first Saturday of the month and every Saturday in May and June. Arrive no later than 9:15 am.

Middletown Campus
Tuesday:
9 am - 3 pm, arrive before 1 pm
Wednesday:
11 am - 5 pm, arrive before 3 pm
Thursday:
1 pm - 8 pm, arrive before 6 pm
Saturday:
Testing is offered the first Saturday of the month, 9 am - 12 pm, arrive before 10.
